On September 9th, 2016 the Middleburg corporate office had a productive day at Food & Friends. Packaging meals for men, women, and children living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other life-challenging illnesses.
The staff and volunteers at Food & Friends were extremely generous by giving us the opportunity to support our community and allowing us to be part of this great cause for a day. The organization, commitment, and great meals are what make this place so essential to the community.
Founded in 1988, Food & Friends began in the basement of the Westminster Presbyterian Church with 20 volunteers enlisted to deliver 15 meals/day serving a total of 1,800 meals to 60 clients. Since their inception, they have moved from the cramped church basement to their own state-of-the-art kitchen and pantry facility and initiated new programs to meet the changing needs of people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-challenging illnesses in the Washington, DC metropolitan community.
